A New, Safer Way to Connect Your Accounts

We’re introducing an improved, more secure way for customers to connect their bankaccounts to trusted financial apps like QuickBooks and Quicken

This update uses an industry standard approach called FDX (Financial DataExchange)—designed to give customers more control, better security, and a smoother experience.

What’s changing (and why it’s better)

In the past, many financial apps connected to accounts by storing usernames and passwordsbehind the scenes. While common, that approach can be less secure and moreprone to connection issues.

With this update:

·      Passwords are no longer shared with third party apps

·      Customers must explicitly approve what data is shared

·      Connections are more stable and more secure

What customers will see

When the update is available:

1.        Customers may see a message that a new connection option is ready.

2.        They’llbe prompted to update each linked account. Users will be prompted to update each linked account associate with Smiley Technologies.

3.        They’ll sign in using their online banking credentials.

4.        They’ll be shown a clear approval screen and asked to allow access.

5.        Once approved, the app will continue working as usual.

This process usually takes just a few minutes and only needs to be completed once peraccount.

What this means for customers

·      More security: Login credentials stay protected.

·      More control: Customers decide when and how their data is shared.

·      More transparency: Clear permission screens replace behind-the-scenes access.

·      More reliability: Fewer broken connections and re‑authentication issues.

·      More Options: As the FDX community grows, more apps will become available without custom integration.

Our commitment

This update reflects our commitment to protecting customer information while making everyday financial tools easier and safer to use.

We’re partnering with trusted technology providers and following industry best practices to ensure customers can confidently manage their financial lives, now and into the future.
